[Hunan Daily] Experts and scholars discussed the innovative talent cultivation in the Context of trade war in Changsha

News from Hunan Daily Client on Jul. 5 (journalist: Yu Rong; correspondent: Chao Jinwen and Chen Luming) "What subject knowledge is needed to manufacture a robot in the blood vessel?" "How can talent cultivation adapt to the rapid change that the microelectronic technique will iterate in about 18 months?" On Jul. 4, nearly 100 experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, HUST, Shanghai Normal University, Xiangtan University, HNUC and other colleges and universities gathered in Changsha to discuss the current frontier issues of innovative talent cultivation.

The meeting was sponsored by the Management Department of the Science and Technology Commission of the Ministry of Education and co-sponsored by Xiangtan University and HNUC, with the theme of "Reconstruction of Innovative Talent Cultivation System in the Context of Sino-US Trade War". Jiang Changzhong, Director of Education Department of Hunan Province, attended the meeting and delivered a speech. Academician Ding Lieyun, Director of Management Department of the Ministry of Education and President of HUST, and Academician Yang Shanlin of HFUT, Executive Deputy Director of Management Department of the Ministry of Education presided over the meeting.

At the meeting, Wu Aihua, Director of Science and Engineering Office of Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education, made a theme report entitled "Facing the Future and Actively Planning to Promote Innovation in Higher Education". He pointed out that innovation in higher education is the prerequisite for the rise of a great power. To meet the challenges of the future industrial revolution, we should achieve the disciplinary layout of "new engineering courses" in advance and build a diversified and individualized engineering talent cultivation model.

Professor Zou Xuecheng, Dean of School of Microelectronics of HUST, made a theme report entitled "Reconstruction of Talent Cultivation System Oriented To Innovation-driven Development". He pointed out that it is necessary to build a learner-centered educational environment, create a meaningful learning experience, build an interdisciplinary learning community, and cultivate practitioners with reflective ability.

Professor Zou Xiaodong, Member of the Management Department and Secretary of the Party Committee of Zhejiang University, made a theme report entitled "Problems and Countermeasures of Engineering Science and Technology Talent Cultivation in China in the Context of Sino-US Trade War". He pointed out that we should improve the systematic talent cultivation structure, promote the construction of emerging manufacturing disciplines, realize the integration of emerging disciplines such as big data and AI, etc. and traditional disciplines, and promote the deep "industry-education integration" of research universities.

Academician Chen Xiaohong, Member of Management Department and President of HNUC made the theme report entitled "Establishment of an Innovative-based Career-creating Talent Cultivation Model". She pointed out that the innovation and entrepreneurship talent cultivation should be scientifically positioned to realize the transformation from traditional university management to modern university system, from traditional discipline education to modern professional education, and from traditional semi-closed school-running to modern open school-running, thus achieving effective improvement in the basic school-running conditions, connotation construction level, talent cultivation quality and social service ability.

During the centralized lecture, Professor Chen Jin of Tsinghua University, Member of Management Department, made an academic report entitled "Great Power in Scientific and Technological Innovation, as well as Innovative Talent Cultivation" for the teachers and students of HNUC, and Professor Zhang Yuli of Nankai University, Member of Management Department, made an academic report entitled "Problem-solving Learning". During the "hand-in-hand" science and technology communication on campus, Professor Hu Xiangpei of Dalian University of Technology, Member of Management Department, made an academic report entitled "Emerging E-commerce Development: Opportunities and Challenges".
