Using artificial intelligence (AI) to promote the smart city construction

Chen Xiaohong thinks that it is a new concept and mode of using cloud computing, big data, IOT, block chain, AI, mobile Internet and other new generation information computing to maximize the operation of cities, realize informatization, Internet and intelligence, promote sustainable development, and promote the intelligent urban planning, construction, management and service.


 

"With the continuous breakthroughs in AIT, more and more cities integrate AIT into the smart city construction." Gui Weihua, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Professor of Central South University, said that only by applying AIT to all areas of life, will there be the vitality. Gui Weihua introduced that there are two major areas of AI. On the one hand, it is closely related to human health and the use of the brain to realize the application of the machines from the field of brain science. On the other hand, it is the application of driving force, for example, there are many AITs in mobile phones, including face recognition, voice and so on, which are closer to human life and industrial production. "At present, AIT attaches great importance to the information industry, but neglects the deep integration of information industry and other industries, which will bring about the transformation and revolution of other industries."

Hu Dewen, Professor of School of Intelligent Sciences, National Defense University of Science and Technology, said that with the continuous improvement of brain-computer interface, it can serve in the medical field and the future transportation field, including intelligent wheelchair and driverless technology, to improve people's health and living quality. "For example, apply AI to self-driving. It can drive a car by sending electroencephalogram signals remotely, which can not only drive accurately, but also avoid the traffic accidents."

The smart city construction should be people-oriented

It is worth mentioning that at present, the smart city construction is also facing some problems. "Smart city paints a good blueprint for people's urban life, but the goal realization of smart city has a long way to go." Chen Xiaohong said that the biggest difficulty in building a new smart city is still the top-level design, unified planning and data co-construction and sharing. She also said that the participation of the whole society is not high, and the smart city construction lacks standard leading, and economic and mature solutions. "Existing solutions sometimes have poor system compatibility and low maturity."


For the above problems, Chen Xiaohong proposed that we should seize opportunities of the new generation of information technology revolution, take the new urbanization as a chance, to improve top-level design, and promote data sharing and standard formulation, integrate technical innovation, deepen application landing, thus realizing the goal in the blueprint. Hereto, He Jishan also said that the smart city construction has just begun, and encountered "fragmented" problems in the past few years due to insufficient experience, so the smart city needs top-down design and bottom-up implementation. "The country needs the national top-level design, and every city needs to make good use of its own conditions to complete the top-level design base on local conditions."

He Jishan thinks that the core is people-oriented, and citizens must have a sense of gain and benefit excepting for promoting the development of various industries and the construction of various systems in a smart city. In addition, building a smart city cannot be completed by an independent unit, an enterprise or a department. It is a complex system, which requires everyone to innovate, especially the collaborative innovation. "In this way, the corresponding intelligent industries and government departments can work together to build the real smart city that the people need."
