Changjiang Schlor, Professor Wang Xiaozan was Invited to Attended the Seminar on Curriculum Reform of Department of Physical Education and Research

On the afternoon of September 29, our alumnus, young ChangJiang Scholar of the Ministry of Education, the Party Secretary and doctoral supervisor of School of Physical Education and Health of East China Normal University, Wang Xiaozan was invited to attend the seminar on curriculum teaching reform organized by the Department of Physical Education and Research. Party Branch Secretary, Kuang Yumei, and deputy director, Tang Yi, of the Department of Physical Education and Research, and some core teachers attended the seminar.

Secretary Kuang Yumei introduced to Professor Wang Xiaozan the development of the Department of Physical Education and Research in recent years. Professor Wang Xiaozan talked her views from three aspects: how to carry out curriculum reform on university physical education, how to combine sports industry research with the characteristics of our school-running characteristics, and how to complete reviewing and evaluating on undergraduate teaching.

She emphasized the sense of responsibility of physical education teachers, and hoped that physical education teachers could concentrate their work on cultivating students’ interests in sports, and exercise students’ will. Subsequently, Professor Wang Xiaozan gave a detailed introduction to the curriculum reform on the physical education of East China Normal University.

In response to some problems of physical education teaching in China’s universities, Professor Wang Xiaozan also proposed a reform plan. She believed that in order to effectively improve the physical quality of university students and cultivate their sports interests, the future university physical education need to increase the intensity of the curriculum, so that students can really move and eliminate the “non-sweat” and “queuing-style” physical education classes. In the teaching of motor skills, physical education teachers should pay attention to teaching motor skills in the application situation, put the original basic technical movement learning outside the class, let students learn and practice on their own, and increase competition and activities in physical teaching. In this way, students can find out the problems they have in the process of applying the skills, and with some guidance, they could really feel the charm of sports in class, their sports enthusiasm and sports interest could be cultivate and stimulated. In addition, in the teaching of technical movements, it is necessary to avoid too many “analytic” teaching methods. The structure of knowledge and skills should be emphasized, and the practice of combining multiple basic skills should be increased so as to make skills learning more practical.
