This exhibition's theme of "Breaking the Cocoon into A Butterfly" came from the "Communication and Promotion Funding Project of China National Arts Fund in 2017" jointly applied by South China Agricultural University, People's Government of Lanhe Town and Xiangyun Hometown Culture Development Co., Ltd. This exhibition tour includes the opening ceremony, seminar, dynamic exhibition and static exhibition. The period of the static exhibition was 7 days, including the history and culture exhibition of the gambiered Guangdong gauze, production techniques of gambiered Guangdong gauze, gambiered Guangdong gauze fabric exhibition, and the fashion and creative exhibition of gambiered Guangdong gauze. During the exhibition, people can close touch and experience the gambiered Guangdong gauze fabrics, clothes and culture. This exhibition can make more people know and like gambiered Guangdong gauze, and further make the gambiered Guangdong gauze enter into the public life.

The clothing works in this exhibition took the gambiered Guangdong gauze, a unique "national intangible cultural heritage" in the Pearl River Delta of Guangdong, as the raw materials, and were jointly completed by South China Agricultural University and Lanhe Town, Nansha District, Guangzhou City (one of the main producing areas of gambiered Guangdong gauze). As early as Nov. 2015, People's Government of Lanhe Town and South China Agricultural University signed the strategic cooperation framework agreement to create the cultural town of intangible cultural heritage of gambiered Guangdong gauze. In 2016, under the leadership of Prof. Jin Hui, and relying on the strong basis of the innovative design, the design team designed and developed more than 300 pieces of gambiered Guangdong gauze works, such as "Sunlight", "Earth", "River" and "Cocoon-break" series, and participated in 14 famous exhibitions in home and abroad. In the press conference of Mercedes Benz China Fashion Week (2017 Spring and Summer Series), gambiered Guangdong gauze works received high attention and praise from all walks of life.

According to the information, the gambiered Guangdong gauze is the unique silk fabric made by pure natural manual dyeing and finishing technology in Guangdong, which is characterized by stiff and smooth texture, health, removing odors, quick drying and luxury. Therefore, it is honored as "soft gold" in textile fabrics. However, the application of the gambiered Guangdong gauze in the clothing is limited by its single color, dark color, high cost and other defects. Considering the advantages and disadvantages of the gambiered Guangdong gauze, in the creative process, designers boldly tried the design concepts, such as "intangible cultural heritage + fashion", "intangible cultural heritage + intangible cultural heritage", and "intangible cultural heritage + culture", and created many themes, such as time width, water sound ladder, agilawood plain element, color elegance, new song from ancient rhyme, sun earth, and breaking the cocoon into a butterfly. The design promotes the collision between the gambiered Guangdong gauze and the latest popular elements, intangible cultural heritages and traditional cultural elements, and gives the gambiered Guangdong gauze clothing a fashionable visual effect and new features of urban life.
