Freshmen’s Entrance Education for Overseas Students in Our University

On the afternoon of October 31, the International Exchange and Cooperation Office held a freshmen’s entrance education lecture for overseas students enrolled in the autumn of 2017 in F502, Yuezhi Building, and invited Du Zhenggang, the team leader of the Foreign Affairs Management Team of Changsha Municipal Public Security Bureau’s Population and Entry-exit Management Branch, the instructor Chen Jun, the deputy team leader Yuan Haidong and the visiting professor Nie Fanxin of Central South University to give speeches.

Mr. Pan Jian, the director of International Exchange and Cooperation Office, welcomed the freshmen enrolled in the autumn of 2017 on behalf of our university, and hoped that they would be able to comply with the laws of China as well as the school rules and disciplines, would have a rich experience of studying abroad and would succeed in their study.

Instructor Chen Jun gave a detailed explanation to overseas students about the laws and regulations concerning foreign affairs in China; he emphasized the importance of observing the laws and disciplines, and focused on introducing the relevant regulations about the student visa, application procedure of residence permit, off-campus accommodation and part-time jobs of overseas students; the issues such as visa expiration and illegal employment should be avoided.

Professor Nie Fanxin made a lecture on “learning Chinese well and acting as a friendly messenger of the Chinese people”. He introduced the history, economy and present situation of China, “One Belt and One Road” policy, the TV programme “Chinese Bridge”, etc., and explained the contents of the 19th National Congress of the Communist Party of China so as to keep overseas students abreast of the political events in our country and the direction of future development.

The lecture will strengthen the daily management of overseas students in our university, strengthen their law and safety consciousness and make the freshmen adapt to the social environment of different countries and be integrated in campus cultural life as soon as possible, and promote the campus cultural life as soon as possible. The overseas students also admitted that they benefited a lot from the all-English entrance education lecture. In the following study period, the International Exchange and Cooperation Office will also organize more educational activities to help students adapt to our school life and study as soon as possible, and be familiar with our tradition and culture to ensure that they have a safe, smooth and wonderful study life.
